We always meet again

 

We always meet again clothing collection is the newest addition to the label Helicopter, by Icelandic  designer Helga Lilja Magnúsdóttir. This collection is the best I've seen from an Icelandic designer in a while. It's so good that I, a mere fashion layman, took the opportunity to enter it for the Icelandic design prize. I don't know what got into me but I was fascinated by the 90's vibe, the materials and the story behind it. We always meet again refers to the kind of awquardness of a relationship that didn't last, past and present feelings and the fact that you will meet again. This story is told quite literally by some of the pieces that make you wear the whole in your heart and feelings on your sleeve. Check it out here

Freezy

A little Yeezy inspiration for you, since we will probably not be getting any of those insanely priced pieces that have already hit the stores. The sporty, normcore theme is something I can relate to though and something I'd like to wear in the cold. Last sunday I woke up to tons of snow..I was staying in a summer cabin and it would have been more practical for the long afternoon walk had I brought some (or all) of the above items with me. Winter is apparantly here and it's freezy ;)

Looking for the dress

Sharper and Darker

I haven't done my eyebrows in years other than just plucking out a stray hair here and there. Now that I´m getting older (or maybe it's just fashion) I think it is time for a chance. As we know  well shaped eyebrows can make dramatic difference in your appearance because they in fact frame your face. French findings

I'm going to Lyon in June. This will be my third time in the beautiful French city and I can't wait to go there. Most of all I'm looking forward to eating and drinking (!). These are the restaurants i plan to visit (I've been goggle-ing): L'ange di vin, 13 Rue de la Monnaie, 69002. Lello, 231 rue Paul Bert, 69003. Balthazar, 7, Rue des Pierres Plantées, 69001. Les trois Dômes, 20 Quai Gailleton, 69002 (for the view). Mozzato, 63 Rue Mercière, 69002 (lunch-time, for the Mozzarella and rosé). Well, let's see how good I am at following my own plans.  In addition to eating, drinking and strolling the pretty streets of Lyon I might do a little shopping. My definitive stops will be, repetto, printemps, diptyque and of course a pharmacy :)

Her style - Morgane Bedel

I made a "Morgane Bedel" style board on Pinterest while she was still working at French Elle. I couldn't understand why there were so few pictures of her on the internet then. Since, she has moved on to French Vogue, has just been featured on Garance's blog and finally we get to see some more images of her wardrobe and chic Parisian style. I love her tousled hair, her laid back outfits and the fact that she is often seen wearing the same thing more than once (oh man I'm so tired of seeing bloggers and fashionistas wearing expensive, expendable labels head to toe) and nobody wears a Canadian tuxedo and flats combo better then Bedel :)

Come December, all the sparkly things arrive in the shops. I'm not so keen on too much glitter and shine but it's festive and little goes a long way when your whole outfit is monochrome (as in all black), it's ok to add a bit of bling :)

Snow boots

I really need to be a little more practical regarding winter boots. I end up ruining most of my shoes during winter because I wear them out in the snow. I tend to think that they will make it because I'll only be running a few steps to or from the car. In addition to ruining my shoes my feet are always freezing cold! I really like the boots  with the shearling lining, they look so warm and comfortable.

Ég þarf að fara að finna mér einhverja almennilega kuldaskó. Ég eyðilegg alla skóna mína í snjónum á veturna. Ég held alltaf að skórnir hafi það af þar sem ég er bara rétt að skreppa út í bíl eða inn í búð en það er nóg til að skórnir láti á sjá. Fyrir utan það að mér er alltaf skít kalt! Ég er mjög hrifin af þessum loðfóðruðu skóm, þeir líta út fyrir að vera sérléga hlýjir og mjúkir.

Ten years ago Kylie Minogue wore the green dress (Chloé) and brown belt combination on the red carpet and she nailed it. The current version of this combo (Michael Kors) is just as chic and you can wear it day to night. These colors look so good together.

Fyrir tíu árum mætti Kylie Minogue á rauða dregilinn í grænum kjól (Chloé) með brúnt belti við og var algjör drottning. Nýjasta útgáfan af þessari samsetningu er frá Michael Kors og er ekkert smá flott. Það er alveg hægt að vera í þessu dressi bæði að degi til og kvöldi til og þessir litir eru mjög fallegir saman.

Spotting - Persian pickles

Tóbaksklútar hafa sést aðeins að undanförnu. Ég man á  níunda áratugnum (síðustu aldar), þegar ég bjó í Danmörku, átti ég bæði rauðan og fjólubláan og  notaði sem hálsklúta. Þegar ég fór fyrst að sjá þá aftur á tískubloggum fannst mér þeir annaðhvort aðeins of  "pin-up" eða aðeins of  "gengjalegir" en það er líklega bara aldurinn ;) Dóttir mín á rauðan  sem hún bindur stundum um höfuðuðið og hún gæti ekki verið sætari. Ég er ekki alveg að sjá mig ganga með þetta ... kannski ég skelli mér á einn til að vera í við poncho-ið við opna arineldinn ;) Svona klútar fást meðal annars í Spútnik Laugavegi/Kringlunni í öllum regnbogans litum.

Bandanas have been around for some time now. I remember them from the eighties, when I lived in Denmark, I had a red one and a purple one and wore them around my neck. When I first started seeing them again on fashion blogs I immediately thought "gangsta" when worn around the neck or "pin-up" when tied around the head. My daughter has a red one that she ties around her head and she couldn't look any cuter. For me though I think this ship has sailed... maybe I could wear one with a poncho around a camp fire? ;)
