I'm loving subway tiles and wooden floors in the bathroom. Some may argue it is not the best idea to have wood floor in the bathroom because it is probably the most humid room in the house (long hot baths, showers...) I have had wooden floors in my bathroom for years without any trouble:-) But I'm missing the tiles, so next on the agenda is to put subway tiles on the walls.

Bathroom details

Eins og ég er hrifin af nýtísku baðherbergjum þá heilla þessi rómantísku gamaldags mig líka. Þau baðherbergi sem ég hef komið í  eru yfirleitt mjög einföld - ekki mikið af myndum á veggjum eða blóm í vösum,  væri til í að sjá meira af því :-) 

Usually I prefer modern -bathrooms but there is something so charming about the romantic  old-fashioned ones. The bathrooms i have come across are usually very plain, no pictures on the walls or flowers in vases. I would love to see more of that :-)

A room to dine in

Heima hjá mér gerast hlutirnir við eldhúsborðið, hvort sem það erum bara við fjölskyldan eða við fáum góða vini í heimskókn. Ef ég er ein heima er ég líklegast við eldhúsborðið í tölvunni. Þegar innrétta á eldhússkrók eða borðstofu finnst mér fallegast (á reyndar einnig við um önnur rými hússins) að blanda saman gömlu og nýju, hafa smá kontrasta t.d. nýtísku stóla við gamalt borð eða öfugt. Það þurfa ekki allir stólarnir að vera eins og það er ekkert verra að hafa þá þægilega.

Everything happens around the kitchen table at my house, whether it's just the family or we have friends over. If I'm home alone you can probably find my there on the computer. When decorating a dining area I think the best results are created when you mix old with new, for example mixing modern chairs with an old table or vice versa. The chairs don't even have to match.

Subway tiles in the kitchen

Subwayflísar eru alltaf að verða meira og meira áberandi í innanhússhönnun. Þetta eru sígildar flísar en nafnið á þeim, 'Subway tiles' kemur frá keramik físunum í neðanjarðarlestakerfinu í New York. Þær eru klassískar og flottar passa við allt :-)

  

Subway tiles are very in at the moment, you can see them everywhere. As you probably already know, subway tiles get their name from the ceramic tiles used on the walls of the New York City subway. They are so chic and classic and fit with everything :-)

White sofa

Eins og áður hefur komið fram er ég ótrúlega hrifin af hvítum sófum  því þeir er eru svo tímalausir og smart :-) Ég er með Ektorp - sófa frá Ikea heima hjá mér og gæti ekki verið ánægðari. Það er hægt að taka utan af honum áklæðið og þvo það í þvottavél (er búin að eiga minn í 1 og 1/2 ár og  nýbúin að þvo utan af honum í fyrsta sinn). Síðan er líka smart að skella hvítu efni yfir gamlan sófa.

As I've mentioned before I am so into a white sofa bed There is something so timeless and chic about it :-) I have an Ektorp - sofa in my home and could not be happier with it. You can take the cover off and wash it in the washing machine (I've had mine for a year and have just recently washed the cover for the first time). It is also so chic to throw white fabric over an old sofa.

Bast Baskets

Ég er með bastkörfur í nánast hverju herbergi heima hjá mér. Þær er eitthvað svo heimilislegar, fallegar, síðan eru þær líka svo  praktískar.

I have bast baskets in almost every room in my house. they are so pretty, homey, and so practical to.
