A room to dine in

Everything happens around the kitchen table at my house, whether it's just the family or we have friends over. If I'm home alone you can probably find my there on the computer. When decorating a dining area I think the best results are created when you mix old with new, for example mixing modern chairs with an old table or vice versa. The chairs don't even have to match.

Subway tiles in the kitchen

Subwayflísar eru alltaf að verða meira og meira áberandi í innanhússhönnun. Þetta eru sígildar flísar en nafnið á þeim, 'Subway tiles' kemur frá keramik físunum í neðanjarðarlestakerfinu í New York. Þær eru klassískar og flottar passa við allt :-)

Subway tiles are very in at the moment, you can see them everywhere. As you probably already know, subway tiles get their name from the ceramic tiles used on the walls of the New York City subway. They are so chic and classic and fit with everything :-)

Black or white?

Eða kannski bara grátt? Ekki hefði mér dottið í hug að mig ætti eftir að langa í gráa eldhúsinnréttingu. Ég þarf svo sem ekkert að vera spá í það núna, ný innrétting er alls ekki á fjárhagsáætlun heimilisins:-(  Hvað finnst þér, myndir þú fá þér gráa innréttingu?

Or maybe just gray? I could not have imagined that I would want gray kitchen cabinets, but now I do, even though a new kitchen is not on my agenda in the near future. What do you think, would you consider getting grey kitchen cabinets?

Open shelving vs. upper cabinets?

I chose to have open shelves in my kitchen after having thought about it for a while :) It gives the kitchen more of a open and airy feeling and it is a great way to make the space feel larger. The downside is that things get dusty and dirty -  But if you keep things, that you use on a daily or weekly basis on the shelves, it is no problem at all :) What do you think? Do you have open shelves in your kitchen?
