Accidental tourist

Here is some inspiration for a touristic outfit. A hat makes all the difference. Above is my new favorite terracotta colored t-shirt from Zara and Teva's trending orthopedic sandals. I never liked the Birkenstock trend... maybe I will have to cave in, in the name of comfort :)

Going on vacation alone

Ég fór í viku sólarlandaferð í sumar, nánar tiltekið til Spánar. Alein.

I went on a vacation this summer to the South of Spain. By myself. People look at me funny when I tell them this, because when I say that I went there "alone" they think that means something else. The reason that I picked a beach vacation was to get a good rest. I went by myself because I wanted to. I wasn't afraid. There were plenty of people around me, most of them children and senior citizens who are quite harmless. I wasn't lonely, as I said there were plenty of people around me but I didn't have to take care of any of them :) I wasn't bored. I was busy relaxing. I slept in, had breakfast at the hotel, where I took my time to eat a big meal including bacon and eggs and always a glass of cava. After breakfast I went out to the hotel garden and did the work-out of the day (which was either zumba or aerobics) with other hotel guests. After that I changed into a bikini, picked up my books and sunscreen and lay in the sun for a few hours, dipping in the pool when too hot. During the hottest time of the day I took a stroll on the beach or did some shopping. I lay in the sun again til early evening when it was time to change and go to dinner. I sat for a long time, eating a lot of fresh seafood, locally grown vegetables, fruit and cheese and while at it I did some people watching - Spanish families are loud, passionate and dramatic with adorable kids :) This (nothing) is what I did for seven days. I came home relaxed, refreshed and tanned. I hope I 'll have the chance to do this again someday.
- In fact I'd want to do this every year :)

MY SECOND HOME...

Images: DUSTY
We arrived in Stockholm yesterday and almost peed in our pants when we saw our hotel room. Not quite what we are used to. Eva came straight from Paris and I arrived from Reykjavik at almost the same time. The only one missing is Áróra. As you can see we took advantage of the situation and called room service quite a lot - and also our friends to brag a little :) Today we are going shopping (at least window shopping) and enjoying Gamla Stan. After that we are going to meet my dad :)

TRAVEL KIT

Computer bag/JCrew // Travel size Gypsy water perfume // flat shoes/ Converse
Rain coat/Moncler // Travel pillow for the plane/Grand trunk // Bum bag for wearing cross body/Yvonne Kone // Cashmere travel blanket for the airplane
For the past ten years I have travelled quite a bit, on average 8 trips abroad a year. Well, for today's globe trotting heap - that may not be much - but for moi it's plenty. What I have learnt about myself during this time is that I do not - nor will I ever - know how to pack a suitcase. There are always things missing or I forget to check the weather forecast. I think that a part of the explanation might be that  I still consider travelling to be a glamorous activity. I daydream about sipping champagne in an airport lounge, eating moules et frites in business class, ordering room service at the hotel and strolling around a big city in heels. None of that ever happens of course. Above are some things that I miss repeatedly, but seem to forget about between my trips. The computer bag is maybe not the most practical one (I would prefer one on wheels) but it sure is pretty.

Cabin fever

My vacation starts next week and I have no plans. Even though I'm not really a country person, and usually spend my vacations in big cities, (or like a real tourist, on a beach)something has come over me. I would really love to have a summer cottage. A small cabin in the middle of nowhere, (but only about an hours drive from the city) with no TV, surrounded by beautiful nature - nothing fancy :) I would sleep in, take long walks, read a book, listen to the silence, eat a lot of cheese and invite someone who plays the guitar to come over :)
Maybe someday.
