These light-boxes from the Stockholm based company Bxxlght are brilliant! I have to get one over my bed... or have one custom made (for every room in my house!). You can order them online and they are affordable. A small lightbox costs € 410 and the bigger one € 510. Moroccan rugs

Moroccan rugs  are traditionally hand-woven in Morocco. They come in many different patterns and color. The Beni Ourain tribe from the Rif Mountains make their wool rugs more often in neutral shades and ordered geometric shapes which is a perfect match to the minimialistic style of Scandinavian homes. I love these rugs, they are pretty and cozy and would add more warmth to my petit living room.

Navajo, Ikat and Aztec patterns

Navajo, Ikat og Azteka mynstraðar mottur, teppi eða púðar geta lífgað upp á hvaða herbergi sem er og gert það heimilislegra. Brenndir litir eins og brúnn og rústrauður hafa ekki sést lengi en eru nú aðeins að koma aftur. Ég hef aðeins verið að spá í að fá mér persneska mottu í stofuna en það getur alveg eins verið að ég fái mér mottu með indjánamynstri í staðinn.

Navajo, Ikat and Aztec patterned rugs and pillows can make any room more cozy. Burnt colors such as brown and orange have been coming back lately and while I have been eyeing some Persian rugs for my living room I might start looking for some Aztec patterns instead.

A room to dine in

Heima hjá mér gerast hlutirnir við eldhúsborðið, hvort sem það erum bara við fjölskyldan eða við fáum góða vini í heimskókn. Ef ég er ein heima er ég líklegast við eldhúsborðið í tölvunni. Þegar innrétta á eldhússkrók eða borðstofu finnst mér fallegast (á reyndar einnig við um önnur rými hússins) að blanda saman gömlu og nýju, hafa smá kontrasta t.d. nýtísku stóla við gamalt borð eða öfugt. Það þurfa ekki allir stólarnir að vera eins og það er ekkert verra að hafa þá þægilega.

Everything happens around the kitchen table at my house, whether it's just the family or we have friends over. If I'm home alone you can probably find my there on the computer. When decorating a dining area I think the best results are created when you mix old with new, for example mixing modern chairs with an old table or vice versa. The chairs don't even have to match.

Bast Baskets

Ég er með bastkörfur í nánast hverju herbergi heima hjá mér. Þær er eitthvað svo heimilislegar, fallegar, síðan eru þær líka svo  praktískar.

I have bast baskets in almost every room in my house. they are so pretty, homey, and so practical to.

Empty frames

Það er eithvað við tóma ramma, sem heillar mig -þeir eru eitthvað svo smart :-)  Það eru myndir af heimilinu mínu og viðtal við mig í nýjasta Hús Og Híbýli. Efsta myndin er úr því blaði og eins og sést er ég með tvo tóma gullramma á arinhillunni minni.

There is something so charming about empty frames. I think they are very chic :-) There are photos of my home and an interview with me in the latest issue of Hús og Híbýli ( Icelandic interior magazine). The top image is of my living room and as you can see I have two empty gold frames above the fireplace.

Ég ætla mér að sofa vel og mikið um helgina. Ég er mjög þreytt eftir vikuna. Góð tilfinning að vita að maður hefur loksins tíma til að hvíla sig. Þetta er búin að vera svona vika þar sem morgnarnir hafa verið kaos (ég þvæ mér óvart um hárið með flösusjampói og enda með hey á höfðinu, mæti í vinnu í sitt hvorum sokknum etc..) Fyrir utan svefn þá þarf aðeins að huga að heimilinu. Dóttir mín og ég skiptum um herbergi fyrir nokkru síðan en við höfum ekki klárað að koma okkur almennilega fyrir, þar sem búið er að vera brjálað að gera hjá okkur báðum. Það eru ennþá kassar um alla íbúð sem þarf að setja í geymslu og ýmislegt sem þarf að henda. Íbúðin er pínulítil og við komumst varla fyrir eins og staðan er núna. Þetta er nú meira eilífðarverkefnið! Ég held ég setji mér raunhæft markmið og klári þetta fyrir jól svo það verði nú svolítið heimilislegt hjá okkur mæðgunum. Ég er búin að skoða meira en vanalega af innanhússhönnunarbloggum þessa vikuna í leit að innblæstri...já og ýmislegt annað skemmtilegt. Góða helgi!

This weekend will be dedicated to sleep. I am so, SO tired. My mornings have been total chaos (I accidentally washed my hair with dandruff shampoo and ended up with a birds nest on my head... two different colored socks on my feet etc...) Asides from sleeping I want to do a little house decorating. I switched bed rooms with my daughter some time ago and we have both been so busy lately that we haven't gotten around to finish things. Let's see how far we will get... This seems to be an eternity project, but I really want our house to feel like home again...at least before Christmas. There are boxes everywhere and we can't seem to figure out what to keep and what to throw out. Our apartment is tiny so even with just a few boxes around the place is a mess. I've been reading more interior design blogs than usual this week for inspiration...that and loads of other different things. Have a great weekend!
