Valentines day

So how do you feel about Valentines day? This should be a day where you celebrate love and lovers but somehow it tends to fall in the same category as Monday for many people, a day you love to hate. It is understandable that if you are single... (it's not like you're getting a day off from work) and you are constantly having mushy advertisements shoved down your throat, that this day is nothing in particular other than annoying. So what if you are a couple? You are still not getting a day off from work and the ad's are just as irritating... even more so...because you feel the pressure to do something and buy stuff. I'm not taking parts with neither side. This day has always been pleasantly unremarkable in my calender. That will probably not change. But... it is February (it's not like there is sooo much going on) and celebrating love in whatever shape or form has to be a good thing.

French toast with strawberries...best served in bed

Pretty peonies...would brighten my day

Cocktails...best served with friends

Paris is always a good idea and I'd love to dine here

How to be Parisian wherever you are

We do not deny our love of all things French here on the blog and we have declared that love of ours numerous times. Therefore it was especially gratifying to play a role, however a teeny-tiny one, in the making of the chic bookHow to be Parisian wherever you areor rather the making of the cover of the British version of the book ;) In May I received an email from Penguin Random House concerning a book-cover, with an image enclosed (above), found on my Pinterest account and was asked if I knew who had the copyright. I had no idea but I recognized who was in the picture: Emma Elwin, then editor of Swedish Elle, now editor of Rodeo Magazine and an avid fashion blogger. I of course replied back. Months later I received the book by post and a thank you note from Penguin Random House. The book is funny and full of all kinds of tips about how to become the ultimate Parisienne wearing nautical stripes and red lipstick. The images are magnifique and this would be the perfect gift to give to your girlfriends. One of the authors is Caroline de Maigret, the archetype of the modern French it-girl so there is your quality stamp :)

P.s The image above of my breakfast is partly inspired by my first ever meal in Paris in 1993. I had a late dinner with a group of people at a popular and very crowded restaurant which name I forgot. I ordered the omelet. When the plate arrived it contained unrecognizable food and a cigarette bud....Voilà! The waiter returned to the kitchen with the dish without a word so I didn't make a fuzz about the situation and decided instead to enjoy my first evening in this glorious city.

Parfait.

One of our favorite Parisiennes is Clémence Poésy. We'd love to borrow from her closet :) Yesterday I watched the film "Last love" where she plays Pauline,  a dance teacher and the friend of Mr. Morgan (Michael Caine). The film was lovely and fortunately Pauline has more or less the same taste in clothes as Clémence. The staples, to name a few, a black wrap dress, navy coat, men's shoes and uncombed hair. And of course Paris...Parfait.

Spring wishes

DREAMS

Dreams

Það er komið smávegis vor í mig þó það sé enn snjór á jörðinni (gerðu það farðu).  Þegar ég bjó í Danmörku sem unglingur þá fékk ég stundum ægilega Íslands heimþrá á vorin. Ég ímyndaði mér að ég væri að labba um í Reykjavík. Sá fyrir sumar götur, hús og náttúru ljóslifandi. Núna er ég með Parísar heimþrá - svakalega mikla. Parísarferð er númer eitt á óskalistanum mínum. Númer tvö er tími til að lesa "Just Kids" eftir Patti Smith sem ég gaf sjálfri mér í jólagjöf. Hlakka til að lesa hana. Númer  þrjú er pizza með kartöflum á Kexlandi, Hverfisgötu 12. Held að hún sé himnesk!

Vorflíkurnar eru komnar í verslanir
Mig langar í....

Appelsínugulu doppuskyrtuna frá Stine Goya - gæti verið meira vor í einni flík?
Hálsmen frá Carré
Skó frá Ganni
og tösku frá A.P.C.

... og nokkrar plúsgráður og þá er ég sátt (og eitt smáatriði enn - flugmiða til Parísar).

That's all folks :)

I have spring on my mind even though snow is still on the ground (please go away). When I lived in Denmark as a teenager I missed Iceland terribly sometimes. I remember imagining walking around Reykjavik and visualizing certain streets, buildings and nature. I have the same feeling for Paris right now. I miss that city so much. A trip to Paris is number 1 on my wish list. Number 2 is finding the time to read "Just Kids" by Patti Smith. The book was a Christmas present from me to me. Looking forward to read it. Number 3 is a potato pizza at Kexland restaurant, located on Hverfisgata 12, 101 Reykjavik. I'm thinking it must be divine :)

Spring fashion has arrived in stores
I'm wishing for....

The orange dotted top by Stine Goya - Could there be any more spring in a thread?
Black jeans from Lindex
Necklace by Carré
Booties from Ganni
and bag by A.P.C.

... and a little bit warmer days - then I'm good (and one more detail - a flight ticket to Paris).

That's all folks :)

Claire Basler's home

The painter Claire Basler lives in this beautiful house. The house is located in Les Ormes, a small country village just half an hour drive from Paris:) Claire is well known in Paris for her breathtaking paintings of flowers.

Listmálarinn Claire Basler býr í þessu ævintýlega fallega húsi. Húsið er í Les Ormes, liltu fallegu sveitaþorpi sem er í 30 mínútna fjarlægð frá París:) Claire er  þekkt í París fyrir sínar undurfögru blómamyndir.

Art filled apartment in Paris

Decorative-arts dealers Laurence and Patrick Seguin live in this gorgeous art filled apartment in Paris´s Marais district. I love how they display their art and furniture:)

Listaverkasalarnir Laurence og Patrick Seguin búa í þessari æðislegu íbúð í Marais hverfinu í París. Mér finnst ótrúlega flott hvernig þau raða upp bæði listaverkunum og  húsgögnunum:)

Parisian townhouse

I could easily move into this fabulous Parisian townhouse ( former factory). I think the owner Virginie and Alfonso have done a great job  I love how they mix flea market find with Ikea furniture, design pieces with  homemade pieces. These floors do the trick for me ! Stunning.

Apartment in Paris

This fabulous apartment is located in the heart of Paris. The Italian architect Antonio Virga designed it for the Bonnard family. I think he has done a great job - I love the industrial, vintage, concrete, wood, mix and match look of it.

Caroline de Maigret - 7 looks and perfection!

She's one of those Parisienne ladies that has great style in her DNA. The model turned music producer with the haircut that I copied, (well - didn't last long, I'm almost blond now) the androgynous style and beautiful face wears adidas sneakers with a Chanel bag. I dig it. Very  convenient chic when walking around in Paris. And when you have a kid... even more so. Check out her tumblr.
