The long bangs

Growing out bangs is painful. That stage where the bangs are neither short or long.... and when you pass people on the street and you think they are looking at you funny... you just want to scream "YES I'm growing out my bangs!!" Well not any more. The long bangs are sort of  like the ombre hair color, where it looked like you were in this weird stage of trying to decide whether or not to grow out highlights - before everyone started to color it that way on purpose. This is kind of the same concept... People are now cutting long bangs. Just do a middle parting and you are totally on trend!

Two perfect Parisiennes with perfect hair. They don't spend much time blow-drying, curling or flat-ironing. It's bed head at its best, but of course nobody wakes up like that! I'm aiming for that same look... every day...To be honest I would need a couple more chunks of hair on my head to pull this of but you can always give it a try. There are some pretty good instructions provided by French hair pro's here and here

Spring hair

When spring arrives it's quite tempting to make some changes. I really love this fresh bed head bob and a reasonable cut would surely do my hair some good. My ends are really dry after the winter and endless colorings. My bangs are short and I'm keener on this haircut with longer bangs. But who knows - Change is always fun.

Side swept

The side swept hairstyle the stars seem to be sporting these days  makes me want to grow out my bangs and try it out. Apart from that... I love what Dree Hemingway is wearing. Just throw on your boyfriends Adidas T-shirt, some leather and heels...sweep all of your hair to one side and you're good to go!

From black to blonde

Jessica Stam and Leigh Lezark have gone blonde and short. I don't know why Leigh has been messing with her perfect sleek raven colored bob - and I preferred Jessica's hair long... But changing your hair is FUN-  I do it  every six months :)

Her style - MILK

The New York Post stylist, Anahita Moussavian is not often seen dressed in black like the rest of us. Quite the opposite. The color of milk seems to be her favorite, occasionally breaking the rule with some 'costume drama', as seen in the last image, by wearing a rainbow/fruit-punch colored dress. I love the look she put together in the first image (not to mention the hair envy...). I imagine Carrie (SJP) would be wearing that if SATC was still running...

I'm not afraid of the dentist!

Pretty babyface model Abbey Lee Kershaw with gorgeous hair
But I'm terrified of the hair stylist...Even if my hair stylist is my friend and I like my hair most of the time when she has cut or colored it. The problem is that when I go to the hair salon I go there with the intention of having chopped of my split ends and getting a gorgeous honey caramel color, nothing fancy, nothing drastic and nothing too complicated. When I'm there I all of a sudden crave brass colored highlights or even  a black bob with blunt bangs. I know what works for my hair and believe me, brass or bob does not do anything for it. My hair is the very, very fine Scandinavian type, which resembles seaweed on a rock (heard this on Oprah once) and looks best kind of natural. As I told you in this post I colored it myself a few weeks ago. I was opting for a brown color and a little shine, but it turned out black (who was I kidding?) and kind of hideous. Now I'm gathering up my courage to book an appointment and really focus on staying calm and on track when I explain what I want done with the old yarn.

Her style - Another Kate

Stylist of the stars (including miss Williams) the cool Kate Young wears more or less all black and white herself, while she is not afraid of dressing her clients in bold color. Kate has a degree in art history and English from Oxford but her love of fashion came number one. She has been the assistant of Anna Wintour and she currently works for Jason Wu among other things. I love the last image of her and her husband and their son Stellan (they also have another son, Leif) - no glamour there - apart from Kate's platinum hair...which reminds me. I home colored my hair! Yes I'm sorry.. I did and I cut my bangs. I look like the freakin' Addams family now. Don't know what happened...It's all a blur.

50 shades & grey

I haven't been to the hairdresser for almost a year! I give my hair a little trim from time to time but I don't do anything about the color myself as I do not dare. The reason for my hairdresser sabbatical is that I wanted my own shade back after having colored it for about 10 years. It's been blond and black and back again. My own color is dark brown and now with a hint of grey! So what I do is, I have this very professional trick of applying mascara to the visible grey before going out in public! I don't know how long I'll be able to get away with this though...? I'm starting to plan my next visit to the hairdresser and cannot decide if to just enhance my own brown color or give it a little caramel highlighting...Well to be honest, I've been planning this visit for several months in my head while still trying to pray the grey away... but now it's time to act. I read this interview with Julia Restoin-Roitfeld where she says that she started going grey at the age of 18! Do you think that her hair might have turned  white, a la santa claus by now? At least she has a good colorist :)
